IPMA^® Re-Certification

Re-Certification serves to maintain proof of qualification for Project Managers (IPMA Level C^®), Senior Project Managers (IPMA Level B^®) and PM Executives (IPMA Level A^®). It differs from the initial certification and focuses on project management activities and tasks as well as the continuous professional and technical development of certified project managers after their initial or last re-certification.  

The following guidelines apply to the maintenance of your proof of qualification for the corresponding levels:

• The IPMA^® certifications of levels C, B and A are each valid for 5 years. The validity of each certificate may not be expired longer than 6 months.
• A proof of experience of at least 50% leadership activities in project management since the last certification or re-certification throughout the term is required.
• You have to attest to at least 175 hours of professional and technical continuing education until the date of the re-certification. In Austria (pma) and Switzerland (SPM), no exact number of training hours per year is required. In Germany (GPM), you must attest to 35 hours per year, spread over five years.
• The re-certification process consists of an application process and a review by the pma. In case of a positive assessment and after the invoicing process, you will receive your new certificate, which is then valid for 5 years.
  
  

All next level academy trainings, courses, and events can be applied for proof of qualification for re-certification.

The rule is: One hour of classroom training corresponds to one hour for proof of re-certification.

Acquiring project management knowledge with the help of our books on project management and behavioral skills also counts towards your continuing education. For each re-certification process, a maximum of 60 credit hours can be credited through self-study.
